One sure fire way to ensure that you remain in debt and have a life filled with financial failure is to let your spending run wild.
When you don’t reign in your spending habits you keep yourself from achieving your financial goals and building a stronger financial future.
So if you are going to be a woman who wants to be in control of her finances then one of the first things that you need to do is manage your spending habits, and here are a few easy ways to help you get started.
Set Goals For Yourself
Setting clear financial goals is the first step in better managing your spending. When you have goals such as buying a home, starting a family, repairing your credit, starting your own business, etc., it makes it easier for you to resist the temptation to spend your hard earned dollars frivolously.
So write down your top 3 financial goals, and commit yourself to working towards achieving them.
Create A Spending Plan
A spending plan is another term for “budget.” When you create a spending plan, you simply allocate certain dollars for certain expenses.

For example – your spending plan should consist of money assigned to pay your urgent needs such as rent, insurances, groceries, utilities, etc. Then your spending plan should allocate funds to your non-urgent but necessary expenses such as personal care. Once these needs are taken care of your spending plan should include money allocated towards bettering your future such as spending money on your 401(k) or savings. When you create a plan and stick to it, you will achieve your financial success.
The Easy Way To Manage Your Spending
Hunt For Savings
You need to make hunting for ways to reduce your cost of living and save money a consistent habit. This may mean cutting back on things that aren’t necessary and don’t really lead to you achieving financial success. Some items to consider cutting back on are cable, cell phone bills, clothing, magazines, salon visits, gym memberships, etc.
Get The Right Accounts
Another great way to manage your spending is to set up different accounts and allocate specific funds for each account. For example, you can contact your financial institution to look into setting up varying types of savings/checking/money market accounts to help you control your spending.
So you can have a checking account where you keep enough funds to pay off your fixed and variable expenses, and then have a savings and/or money market account that you use to save money. And the best way to handle these accounts is to have your paycheck automatically deposited into each account proportionally.
